KIRU (切る — “to cut”) is a chef-driven sushi bar on Mass Avenue in Indianapolis. Founded by an Indianapolis native who spent years training in kitchens across Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, and Bangkok, KIRU combines world-class sushi technique with a distinctly Midwestern warmth. The restaurant features a 12-seat bar with open kitchen, an ever-evolving omakase experience, and the “Souvenir” cocktail and sake program — where every drink comes with an origin story. The menu is rooted in Japanese precision and influenced by the founder’s journey across the Pacific. KIRU occupies a unique space in the Indianapolis dining scene: chef-driven quality at an accessible premium price point ($25–50 per person), with a brand identity that reflects the city’s growing creative class. KIRU is located on Mass Avenue and is open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner service.
